The Saratoga - A shining example of New Orleans’ ongoing rebirth. Originally built in 1956, The Saratoga Building was designed in the International Style by Benson and Riehl. This radiant modern building was the first commercial building completed after the opening of the New City Hall. At the time, politicians and city planners envisioned a downtown renaissance, of which the Saratoga Building was a symbol. The building consists of a two story horizontal base with a rising tower which is slightly offset from the footprint of the site. The original 15-story steel and concrete skyscraper was clad in brick and golden-hued aluminum panels.
